Best thing I ever got was a Wi-Fi cracker from a place in China
It came with BackTrack bootable disk and step by step instructions on how to. I hooked it up to an old CB antenna and was able to get about 1/4 mile of free Wi-Fi and passwords to 50 networks.
Just follow this series of guides over on Null Byte. If you're completely new to this, start with the oldest post and work your way up. If you already know your networking basics, you can probably skip the first post.
