How to Jailbreak iPhone V.1.1.1 Using AppSnapp

Aug 25, 2009 09:44 PM

Jailbreaking an iPhone in v.1.1.1 is very simple. This article is focused only on Windows users. This walk through also includes steps on how to get the Installer application.

Start iPhone's Safari and go to http://jailbreakme.com.

At the bottom of jailbreakme.com there will be a button that will say "Install AppSnapp."

When you touch "Install AppSnapp" Mobile Safari will crash to the home screen.

Notice that there will be an icon spinning when you return to the home screen, don't worry! That just means it's downloading and preparing to install.

Once your iPhone is done installing, it should take you to your lock screen, slide to unlock as always.

Now you will see a blue icon on your home screen, proceed by clicking on Installer.

Once it opens successfully, you now have access to many downloads for you iPhone, Enjoy!

Tips

  • ONLY 1.1.1 will work with jailbreakme.com, if you try an earlier firmware such as 1.0.2, Jailbreakme.com will tell you that you have the wrong firmware and you need to upgrade it to 1.1.1.
  • 1.1.1 is an older firmware, there are a lot of later firmware updates that Apple developed that supersede it, if you can, please try jailbreaking 2.1 firmware from your computer.
  • Beware that you will need to "jailbreak" your iphone to download 3rd party applications. Be sure to unlock the iphone 3G properly.

Warnings

  • Jailbreaking/Hacking voids your warranty with Apple.
  • Be careful when your using Safari, know and trust the sites you go to. The main reason iPhone users get updates every 1 or 2 months is because Apple patches exploits where hackers can override your iPhone. Please also note that the .tiff exploit was patched in 1.1.2 and later firmwares.

Things You'll Need

  • iPhone or iPod Touch.
  • Mac or Windows XP.

The next big software update for iPhone is coming sometime in April and will include a Food section in Apple News+, an easy-to-miss new Ambient Music app, Priority Notifications thanks to Apple Intelligence, and updates to apps like Mail, Photos, Podcasts, and Safari. See what else is coming to your iPhone with the iOS 18.4 update.
